Lipomatous septal hypertrophy.

چکیده
A 76-year old obese woman with a body mass index (BMI) of 36.8 was referred for evaluation of an intracardiac mass, incidentally detected with computed tomography (CT). The CT scan showed massive thickening of the intra-atrial septum with the septal tissue clearly hypointense to normal myocardium and isointense to subcutaneous fat (Figure 1, A) and sparing of the fossa ovalis (Figure 1, B, arrows). Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging confirmed septal thickening of either side of the foramen ovale (Figure 1, C, arrows), being isointense to the subcutaneous fat. Echocardiographic studies (Figure 1, D) revealed hypertrophy of the atrial septum with bright echogenicity of the thickened tissue and

A Rare Case of Lipomatous Hypertrophy of the Interventricular Septum
Asymmetrical left ventricular hypertrophy secondary to interventricular septum hypertrophy is usually considered a typical phenotype of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. In rare cases other conditions such as tumors or lipomatous hypertrophy of the interventricular septum may have a similar presentation. We present a case of a male patient who presented for routine cardiology work up and was diagnos...

Lipomatous hypertrophy of the interatrial septum is an uncommon entity that usually occurs in elderly patients. We report a patient who presented with atrial fibrillation, congestive cardiac failure and a large intracavitary mass in the right atrium on echocardiography. He underwent successful resection of the mass with septal reconstruction. Pathology was consistent with lipomatous hypertrophy...

متن کاملLate emergence of platypnea orthodeoxia: Chiari network and atrial septal hypertrophy demonstrated with transoesophageal echocardiography.
Platypnea orthodeoxia is a rare syndrome that describes breathlessness on standing that resolves on lying flat. We present a previously healthy patient who developed platypnea orthodeoxia in her eighth decade of life. Cardiovascular imaging demonstrated an atrial septal defect, extensive Chiari network and atrial septal hypertrophy. We propose the development of lipomatous atrial septal hypertr...
متن کاملLipomatous Hypertrophy of the Interatrial Septum Accompanied By Interatrial Septal Lipoma
Lipomatous hypertrophy of the interatrial septum (LHIS) is usually an incidentally detected benign disorder which is asymptomatic in most of the cases. On the other hand, cardiac lipomas are rare benign cardiac tumors. In transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) of a 77-year-old male patient, who was admitted with the complaint of dyspnea, homogeneous hypertrophic interatrial septum (IAS) was obser...
متن کاملEpicardial lipomatous hypertrophy mimicking pericardial effusion: characterization with cardiovascular magnetic resonance.
A 62-year-old man with no history of cardiac disease was referred because of exertional dyspnea. His body mass index was elevated at 29 kg/m, and a large cutaneous lipoma was present on his abdominal wall. Transthoracic echocardiography was performed and initially reported to demonstrate a moderate-sized global pericardial effusion (Figure 1 and Movies 1 and 2). Consideration was given to peric...
